Gov. Henry lauds School of Science and Math
for top world ranking

Oklahoma City – Governor Brad Henry today announced the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) has achieved top ranking in the world for an advanced physics course.

In its 2006 Advanced Placement Report to the Nation, the College Board named the OSSM Physics C - Electricity and Magnetism course the strongest of its kind in the world. Last spring, twenty OSSM juniors and seniors scored three or higher on the AP Physics C - Electricity and Magnetism exam. In no other high school in the world did a greater percentage of students succeed at such a high level of excellence.

“I commend the talented students and teachers of this class for their outstanding achievement,” Gov. Henry said. “This recognition reflects the excellent standards of education in Oklahoma. A strong education system is the key to a strong future for our children and our state.”

In a letter congratulating OSSM President Dr. Edna Manning, College Board officials said, “. . . the work you are doing of preparing so many students for success in such rigorous curricula is a model for schools worldwide.”
